This past weekend we had our summer recruitment workshop. Sisters who went home for the summer or had internships outside of Kearney, and even the state, were back in Kearney for the weekend. We loved getting to catch up with our sisters over morning coffee runs, lunch dates, fun activities during breaks, movie nights or Tropical Sno trips once workshop was over. We can’t wait to be reunited in the Alpha Phi house once again when formal recruitment starts in just over two weeks.
The Delta Xi chapter wants to thank our Vice President of Membership Recruitment, Peyton Carney, and our Director of Formal Recruitment, McClain Narber. These sisters made this weekend an enjoyable one full of learning and preparation. We focused on making the recruitment process fun so that the women going through recruitment can be themselves and really have the chance to find their new home. We are so excited for recruitment week to start so that we can get the chance to know all the amazing women going through recruitment and share a piece of Alpha Phi with every single one. 24 more days until Bid Day… but who’s counting.

With summer more than halfway over we want to give an update on what our sisters have been up to. Whether traveling the world, completing an internship, or volunteering, we are so proud of our sisters. Many have shown a love for adventure, dedication, passion, and serving the those in need. We can only touch on a few, but these few are mighty in their quest for bettering themselves while helping others.
Six of our sisters travelled to Guatemala to medically aid the citizens there through Volunteers Around the World. This is the second summer we have had a group of Alpha Phi's travel out of the country to help VAW. We are so proud they have had the opportunity to gain new experiences in the medical field while fostering deeper friendships.

Shelby Hinrichs has been doing mission work for Kodiak Baptist Mission in Kodiak, Alaska since the middle of May. Sister Hinrichs is a mentor and counselor for the horsemanship and farm camp and also helps aid the other staff members in Chapel time with the young campers. Even though day camps take up a majority of her time, she still finds time to explore. We can't wait to have Shelby back and hear about all her stories.

Miranda Horsley is interning for Urban Impact Ministries which puts on a summer long vacation bible school in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is Sister Horsley's fourth year helping, but first year as an intern. We have loved seeing her passion for what this program does and have been following her journey of personal growth. We look forward to welcoming Miranda back in August.

There are so many more amazing things our sisters are doing as summer is quickly passing and we love supporting each other. We can't wait to hear about the other adventures at summer workshop this next weekend. A little more than a month until Formal Recruitment and we are so excited to welcome a new pledge class of talented and adventurous women to Alpha Phi!
